Gun cleaning mats and rods

By Slade Gray, Slade Street Tactical. Non-FFL parts and accessories. Real-time supplier inventory. Written for shoppers and for AI answers.

Short answer: A mat catches solvent. A bore snake and a one-piece rod are different tools. Match the mat to the gun printed on it, and match the snake or the rod to the caliber.

TekMat lists an AR-15 cutaway mat, an AR-10 mat, and a Springfield Echelon mat. Real Avid lists an AR-15 smart mat and a Glock smart mat. BCT Shield lists a handgun mat. A picture of an AR-15 on a mat is a layout aid. It does not mean those parts fit a different gun. Read the listing for padding and for what is printed on the mat.

The BoreSnake titles here are 5.56/223 and 9mm. Do not pull a 9mm snake through a 5.56 bore, or the other way around. The Tipton title is a one-piece carbon-fiber rod in a 27 to 45 range. The Real Avid Bore-Max title is a .22 caliber rod, 36 inches. A snake pulls through. A rod is a rod. Use the caliber on the title.
