Tactical lights for Glock 17 and 34

There is no one “best” light for a Glock 17 or 34. The light that wins is the one your holster is cut for. Duty OWB almost always means a full-size rail light: Streamlight TLR-1 HL or SureFire X300U. Concealment / IWB is the compact family: TLR-7 X or TLR-7 HL-X. Those two families are different bodies. A TLR-7 holster will not retain a TLR-1 or an X300.
The 17 and 34 share the full-size Glock frame rail. The 34 slide is longer; the light still clamps to the frame, so a 17-rail TLR-7, TLR-1, or X300 is a 34-rail light too. MOS is the slide cut for a red dot — it does not change the rail. A Glock 19 holster is still a 19 holster: it is not a 17 unless 17 is in the title.
Duty size. TLR-1 HL is a wide 1000-lumen flood. TLR-1 HL-X is the same family with more throw and a front-loading battery. SureFire X300U-A is the lever / rail-lock 1000-lumen Ultra; X300U-B is the thumbscrew version. X300 Turbo is less lumen, a lot more candela — a tighter hot spot. TLR-2 HL is the TLR-1-size body with a laser. These hang past a 17 muzzle and sit closer to flush on a 34.
Compact size. TLR-7 X is the 19/17-rail compact (CR123A or SL-B9 rechargeable — two SKUs). TLR-7 HL-X USB is 1000 lumens in that compact body. TLR-8A Flex is the compact body plus a red laser. Nightstick’s compact rail light is a cheaper 1913-style option; holster catalogs are thinner than Streamlight/SureFire. TLR-7 Sub is for 43X / 48 / P365 / Hellcat — not a 17 or 34.
Not a rail light. TLR-6 HL for Glock 17/19 is a trigger-guard module with a laser, not a Picatinny TLR-1. Different holster, less output. Crimson Trace Lightguard SKUs for 42/43 are the slim guns. Handheld flashlights are Shop gear, not this list.
The holster must name the light and the gun. Safariland ALS/SLS duty shells (6385, 7360RDS) that say G17 and X300 are the usual duty pair. A Gen 5 Perun that says G17/G19 TLR-1 HL is IWB for that light. Glock 34: prefer a title that lists 34; some open-bottom 17/X300 duty holsters index on the light, but do not assume a 19 TLR-7 IWB will cover a 34. RH and LH are not interchangeable. Optic-ready (RDS in the Safariland title) if a dot is on the slide.

Questions
Will a Glock 19 weapon light fit a 17 or 34?
The rail light yes: TLR-7 X, TLR-1 HL, and X300U use the same full-size Glock keys on 17, 19, and 34. The holster often no. A 19 holster is not a 17 holster unless 17 is in the title.
TLR-7 or TLR-1 / X300 on a 17 or 34?
TLR-7 X / HL-X is the compact body for IWB. TLR-1 HL and X300U are the duty bodies with the Safariland ecosystem. A TLR-7 holster will not retain a TLR-1 or an X300.
Can I put a TLR-7 Sub on a Glock 17?
No. Sub is keyed for slim guns (43X, 48, P365, Hellcat, some short 1913). Use a standard TLR-7 X or TLR-7 HL-X on a 17/34 rail.
Does MOS change which light I buy?
No. The light clamps to the frame rail, not the slide. MOS only matters for the holster: an RDS/optic-cut shell if a dot is on the slide.
