Short answer: Buy the recoil spring by generation. Gen 3 and earlier use a single spring. Gen 4 and Gen 5 both use a dual spring, and those two assemblies are not the same part. Gen 6 has its own kit. A comp or a suppressor may need a different weight, found by testing.
By generation: Rival Arms sells a Glock 19 Gen 3 rod, a Glock 19 Gen 4 rod, and a Glock 17 Gen 5 rod as separate parts. Match the model in the title: a 17 rod is not a 19 rod. True Precision sells Glock 19 kits titled G1-3, G4/5/V, and Gen 6. The G4/5/V kit includes a bushing for Gen 4, 5, and V. The Gen 6 listing also names Gen 1-3, and the G1-3 listing also names Gen 6.
