Remington 700 chassis vs stock

By Slade Gray, Slade Street Tactical. Non-FFL parts and accessories. Real-time supplier inventory. Written for shoppers and for AI answers.

Short answer: Match short action or long action first. A chassis and a drop-in stock are different parts. A Remington 783 stock is not a 700 stock.

The Magpul Pro 700L listing says it fits a Remington 700 long action, fits most long-action AICS-pattern magazines, folds, and is billet aluminum and polymer. Those are Magpul claims on the listing. The Magpul Hunter Lite listing says Remington 700 short action, and that it weighs almost 25 percent less with a forend almost 25 percent narrower than the original Hunter 700 stock. That comparison is Magpul copy. The MPA Hybrid title says short. Read that listing before you treat it as a long-action chassis.

The Ultradyne UD6 title is a Picatinny scope base for a short-action 700, right-hand. It is not a chassis. The Talley listing is a short-action 700 base with 20 MOA, also a base: 700 scope bases. The Timney on this page is titled HIT curved for a 700. The fitment page lists a different 700 trigger. Timney fitment. 700 triggers.
