Short answer: The ring has to match the tube. 1-inch, 30mm, and 34mm rings are not interchangeable. Use the lowest ring that clears the barrel and the objective, then check cheek weld.
Warne sells a 30mm medium ring, a 30mm high ring, and a 1-inch medium ring as three parts. Trijicon sells a 34mm medium ring. A 30mm ring will not close on a 34mm tube. Midwest MK2 sells a one-piece 34mm QD mount, which is a different part from a pair of rings. The Wheeler lapping kit titled 30mm matches 30mm rings, not 34mm rings.
